OnlineMedEd Scholarship for Future Black Physicians

At OnlineMedEd, we're committed to not only changing the way medical education is taught, learned, and applied, but to working with partners to make a positive impact in as many areas as possible. Curriculum and pedagogy are just two parts of this effort. Alone, they are not enough.

Closing the representation gap in medicine is an essential step in reducing health disparities between communities. One simple act is to begin addressing it by funding a scholarship for future black physicians.

Today, we're proud to announce that OnlineMedEd is offering a $12,000 scholarship to a Black student who is a US citizen pursuing a degree in medicine.

With so many qualified applicants in previous years, we have added new awards for this year. Three runners up will receive a free one year membership to OnlineMedEd, and all who apply will receive a discount code for 50% off a one year OnlineMedEd Core membership or Road to Residency Bundle when the winner is announced.

This, the 3rd annual OnlineMedEd Scholarship for Future Black Physicians, is a reaffirmation of our commitment to improve health outcomes for all patients by addressing disparities wherever they are. Training more Black health professionals is a critically important step to help close the health disparity gap and help more Black students achieve their dreams of becoming great doctors.

We’re again proud to offer a $12,000 scholarship to a selected Black student pursuing a degree at a US or Caribbean medical school to become an MD or a DO. Through this scholarship, we’re hoping to lessen the financial burden that many Black students often face when they embark on a career in the health professions and to empower them to be an active voice for change.

Chris McNeil, now an emergency medicine resident at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, was our first recipient. You can read about his story here.

Last year's winner was Cedric Mutebi, a third year med student at Wayne State University Medical School. You can learn more about Cedric here.

Over the course of the year, we will periodically check in with the recipient of this scholarship to see how their med school adventure is progressing.
